Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about FSD Update, Tesla Full Self-Driving software, and how to use this site.

General

What is FSD Update?
FSD Update is a community-driven platform that tracks every Tesla Full Self-Driving (FSD) software release. We catalog version numbers, release dates, firmware versions, release notes, compatible Tesla models, and real-world demonstration videos — all in one searchable location. Our goal is to be the most comprehensive and up-to-date FSD reference on the web.
Is FSD Update affiliated with Tesla?
No. FSD Update is an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Tesla, Inc. All data is gathered from publicly available sources, including vehicle software changelogs, community reports, and contributor-submitted content.
Is FSD Update free to use?
Yes. FSD Update is completely free for all users. You can browse FSD versions, read release notes, and watch demonstration videos without creating an account. An account is only needed if you want to become a video contributor.
How often is the site updated?
We update the site whenever a new FSD software version is released by Tesla. New versions and their associated release notes are typically added within hours of being reported by the community. Contributor videos are matched and added automatically.

About Tesla FSD

What is Tesla Full Self-Driving (FSD)?
Tesla Full Self-Driving (FSD), currently branded as “FSD Supervised,” is Tesla’s advanced driver-assistance software. It can handle many driving tasks — including navigating city streets, making turns, stopping at traffic lights, and changing lanes — but it requires the driver to remain attentive and ready to take control at all times. FSD is available as a paid add-on or monthly subscription for compatible Tesla vehicles.
How do FSD version numbers work?
Tesla uses a versioning scheme for FSD software (e.g., FSD 13.2.1). Major version numbers (like 12 or 13) typically indicate significant architectural or capability changes. Minor and patch numbers reflect incremental updates, bug fixes, and improvements. Each version may be paired with a specific firmware version that is installed on the vehicle.
What are FSD release notes?
When Tesla pushes a new FSD software update to vehicles, the car displays an on-screen changelog describing what changed. These are the “release notes.” FSD Update captures and publishes these notes for each version so owners and enthusiasts can review changes regardless of whether their vehicle has received the update yet.
How do I check which FSD version my Tesla is running?
On your Tesla’s touchscreen, go to Controls > Software. The currently installed software version is displayed at the top. The FSD version number may be shown separately or as part of the full software version string.
Why does my Tesla not have the latest FSD version?
Tesla rolls out FSD updates gradually. Not all vehicles receive a new version at the same time. Factors include your vehicle model, hardware revision, geographic region, and Tesla’s internal rollout schedule. Some versions are also limited releases for early testing before a wider deployment.

Video Contributors

How do I become a video contributor?
Becoming a contributor is free and takes just a few minutes:
  1. Sign in with your Google, GitHub, or Facebook account.
  2. Go to your Account page and add your YouTube channel.
  3. Turn on “Show my YouTube FSD videos” and submit for review.
  4. Once approved, any video on your channel with an FSD version in the title (like “FSD 13.2”) will automatically appear on the corresponding version page.
Learn more on the Contributors page.
What kind of videos are accepted?
We accept YouTube videos that demonstrate Tesla FSD in real-world driving scenarios. The video title must include the FSD version number (e.g., “FSD 13.2.1” or “FSD Supervised 13.2”) so our system can match it to the correct version page. Videos should be original content — re-uploads or compilations of other creators’ content are not permitted.
How are videos matched to FSD versions?
Our system automatically scans the titles of approved contributors’ YouTube videos for FSD version numbers. When a match is found, the video is linked to the corresponding version page on FSD Update. This process runs periodically to pick up new uploads.

Using the Site

How can I filter versions by Tesla model?
On the homepage, each version card displays the compatible Tesla models (such as Model 3, Model Y, Model S, Model X, or Cybertruck). You can click on any model badge to filter the list and show only versions available for that model.
Can I search for a specific FSD version?
Yes. The homepage includes a search bar that lets you search by version number (e.g., “13.2”) or by keywords in the version title. Results update instantly as you type.
How do I report an error or suggest a correction?
If you find incorrect information — such as a wrong release date, missing release note, or incorrect firmware version — please email us at support@fsdupdate.com with the details. We appreciate the help and will correct errors as quickly as possible.
Do you have a privacy policy?
Yes. You can read our full Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. If you have questions about your data, visit our Data Deletion page or contact us.
