Tesla’s invite-only Austin Cybercab event and Texas registry listing

Invite-only Austin event on Sept. 3
Tesla’s invite-only Cybercab event is 4:45 p.m. Thursday, downtown Austin. Tesla Cybercab engineering lead Eric posted that on September 2: “4:45pm Thursday, downtown Austin. Rest of the details will be going out tomorrow morning for all guests!”
Tesla has been marketing the night as “Exclusive Access: Cybercab” and offered Model Y Robotaxi riders a “Cybercab Launch Event.” Some guests came through the earlier Robotaxi sweepstakes; that invitation path is in our August 19 recap.
Teslarati describes a two-seat Cybercab with no steering wheel and no pedals. Eric’s post puts the gathering downtown Austin, not at the factory.
Purpose-built Cybercab vs the Model Y Robotaxi fleet
Cybercab is Tesla’s purpose-built robotaxi: two seats, no steering wheel, no pedals. Paid Robotaxi rides in Texas have been Model Ys. TeslaNorth says Tesla already runs that Model Y service in Austin, Dallas, and Houston.
A purpose-built Cybercab at an invite-only event is not the same fleet as the Model Ys that already take paying Robotaxi riders.
Texas listed Cybercabs — not a paid fare
TeslaNorth reported September 1 that Tesla Robotaxi, LLC added purpose-built Cybercabs to Texas’s public automated-vehicle registry on August 31. The cars showed up in the Texas Motor Carrier Credentialing System (TxMCCS) lookup. TeslaNorth said the lookup first showed seven 2026 Cybercabs, then 45 later that morning, with a 5YJA VIN prefix distinct from the 7SAYG prefix on Model Y robotaxis. Those counts are TeslaNorth’s read of the public lookup.
TeslaNorth’s line is the right one: “A listing is not the same as a paid fare.” Registration puts those cars on the same commercial roster as the Model Ys already taking paid trips. A listing is not paid Cybercab fares for everyone.
What this is not
This is not a rewrite of the sweepstakes recap or the Nevada 5,000-vehicle Clark County permit recap. Those URLs stay as they are.
Cybercab and Tesla Robotaxi are a separate commercial service in certain cities. That is not the same product as FSD (Supervised) in an owner car.
