What changed in FSD 14.3.12 and Tesla software 2026.38.5
October 10, 2026
FSD 14.3.12 rolls out to HW4 in firmware 2026.38.5, with Halloween Mode, Emergency Drive Away and Powershare with Powerwall.
Firmware 2026.38.5 brings FSD 14.3.12 to a small first wave of HW4 cars
Tesla software 2026.38.5 carries FSD 14.3.12 for Hardware 4 vehicles only. The earliest owner posts we found are from about 3:27 PM PT on October 10, 2026. Tracker card: FSD 14.3.12.
What is distinct here is the firmware. 2026.38.5 pairs the FSD build with the 2026.38 vehicle software items Tesla shipped in 2026.38.3, so the headline is the software bundle and not a new FSD stack. The FSD notes themselves are nearly unchanged from 14.3.11, as covered below.
@teslascope posted at 4:08 PM PT that 14.3.12 is going out to AI4 vehicles for the first time via 2026.38.5, and that the first wave is relatively small with more waves expected:
Full Self-Driving V14.3.12 is going out to AI4 Tesla vehicles for the first time via 2026.38.5.
— Teslascope (@teslascope) October 10, 2026
This wave is relatively small, although additional waves are anticipated.
Teslascope had also posted at 3:26 PM PT that FSD (Supervised) v14.3.12 is included, and @wholemars posted at 3:27 PM PT: "Tesla Self-Driving 14.3.12 is rolling out now!"
@NotATeslaApp followed at 3:43 PM PT: "Tesla has released FSD v14.3.12 with update 2026.38.5. This update adds Halloween Mode to the FSD branch and the other 2026.38 features, including the Visual Updates, Emergency Drive Away and more." Its 2026.38.5 release notes page lists 14.3.12 for HW4 on Model S, 3, X, Y and Cybertruck.
Owner posts
Tim got it on two vehicles. At 3:35 PM PT @TimDOES posted:
FSD 14.3.12 with Halloween Mode 🎃 👻 is downloading on my Cybertruck and Model Y
— TimDOES (@TimDOES) October 10, 2026
Man! I am really excited to play with this one
Another Cybertruck is on this build. At 3:41 PM PT @TesLatino posted from the Giga Texas employee parking lot that they were downloading Cybertruck update 2026.38.5, which they describe as having FSD v14.3.12 and a Starlink High Performance Dish. The Starlink dish detail is the poster's own description. It is not part of Tesla's release notes.
More owners reported downloads later in the evening, including @DirtyTesLa in Michigan at 5:08 PM PT ("FSD 14.3.12 downloading on my car back in Michigan with the Halloween update!") and @ChuckCook at 5:16 PM PT on a Cybertruck and Model Y.
What changed in the FSD notes vs 14.3.11
Very little. The 14.3.12 stack list matches 14.3.11 bullet for bullet, with one line removed:
Actually Smart Summon max speed is now increased to 8mph (13km/h).
That line was in the 14.3.11 notes and is not in the 14.3.12 notes. Nothing was added. The related bullet "Unified the model between Actually Smart Summon, FSD, and Robotaxi for more capable and reliable behavior." is still there. The notes don't say why the 8 mph line is gone, so we are not reading anything into it. @blktsla saw the same thing at 6:22 PM PT: "No new notes as far as I can see."
The header now reads "Full Self-Driving (Supervised) v14.3.12 includes:". Upcoming Improvements are unchanged: expand reasoning to all behaviors beyond destination handling, and add pothole avoidance. For the full carried-over list, see the 14.3.12 card and What changed in FSD 14.3.11 and 14.3 Lite.
Vehicle software that ships alongside 14.3.12
These four items are vehicle and mobile app features that ship alongside 14.3.12 in firmware 2026.38.5. They are not FSD stack changes. Each is listed on our 14.3.12 card, quoted in Tesla's wording.
Halloween Mode. "Spread holiday fear year round with Halloween Mode. Put a Ghost Costume on your car visualization. Turn on Trick or Treat Mode to play spooky sounds and flicker the lights when visitors approach. Schedule a haunting light show, and turn your car into a chilling Photobooth!"
Emergency Drive Away. This one is for emergencies only. Tesla's notes say: "Emergency Drive Away lets you shift into Drive while a Supercharger cable is still connected. Use it only in an emergency: driving away with the cable attached will damage your vehicle and the Supercharger, and you may be responsible for repair costs. When you activate this feature, short recordings from your vehicle's cameras are shared with Tesla." In plain terms, it can damage the car and the Supercharger, and it shares short camera clips with Tesla.
Powershare with Powerwall. "Powershare Home Backup with Powerwall keeps your home powered longer during an outage. When parked and plugged in, your vehicle now backs up your home alongside your Powerwall, down to the discharge limit you set. Requires a compatible Powerwall and a compatible Wall Connector. Enable in Charging > Powershare." So it needs a compatible Powerwall plus a compatible Wall Connector. This wording matches our card and fsddb's 2026.38.5 page. Not a Tesla App's 2026.38.5 page does not list Powershare.
Set Arrival Energy. "Set your desired Arrival Energy for any trip from your phone. Open the location tab in the Tesla Mobile App, enter your destination, and tap Set Arrival Energy. Requires Mobile App v4.58.0 or later."
The card also lists Security Improvements: "This update includes important security fixes and improvements."
Not first-ever on 2026.38.5
These features did not debut on 2026.38.5. TeslaNorth reported on October 6 that 2026.38.3 added Emergency Drive Away and Powershare Home Backup. Not a Tesla App's 2026.38.3 notes list Halloween Mode and Emergency Drive Away with the same wording. So 2026.38.5 is where they meet FSD 14.3.12 for HW4 cars. The 14.3.11 / 2026.33.5 notes on Not a Tesla App carry a similar "Vehicle-to-Home with Powerwall" entry. Not a Tesla App's 2026.38.5 page also lists a few 2026.38 items for other hardware, such as Visual Updates (HW3 Model 3 and Y) and Supercharger Site Maps (legacy models).
Automatic Collision Evasion: already shipped, not new
Automatic Collision Evasion is on the 2026.38.5 notes for HW4, but it already shipped on earlier 14.3.x builds. It is not new in 14.3.12. See What changed in FSD 14.3.10 and What changed in FSD 14.3.11. It can turn on FSD to help keep your vehicle safe while you drive manually, in the situations Tesla describes. It is not unsupervised FSD. It is not a Robotaxi launch.
Is there a 14.3 Lite on 2026.38.5?
Unverified. The primary sources we checked, Tesla's notes as listed on Not a Tesla App and fsddb, and Teslascope's rollout post, show 14.3.12 for HW4 and no 14.3 Lite entry for this firmware. Some posts claim Lite is part of 2026.38.5, for example @RonyTesla and @AboutTesla. We haven't confirmed that and are not treating it as fact. HW3 owners should keep watching the FSD 14.3 Lite card. Product context
This page is about FSD (Supervised) owner software. FSD Supervised can start from park, change lanes, follow navigation, and park at a destination. Robotaxi is a separate Tesla app and service. FSD Update is independent and not affiliated with Tesla, Inc.
If you are comparing versions on the road, a USB drive for Dashcam and Sentry is the usual owner setup. We link a 128GB Tesla Dashcam / Sentry USB. For non-Tesla Level 2 stations, use a J1772-to-Tesla adapter (not a Tesla-to-J1772 dongle).
